(1090 The Fan) — Chasson Randle scored a team-high 22 points as Stanford defeated Washington State 74-63 in the opening round of the Pac-12 tournament, Wednesday night.

Trailing by three midway through the second half, Stanford (20-11) utilized a 10-0 run triggered by a Dwight Powell 3-pointer to take a 57-50 lead with 6:37 to play, and ultimately, control of the game.

The Cardinal finished with all five starters in double figures. Powell added 16 points, while Anthony Brown and Josh Huestis each scored 12 and center Stefan Nastic finished with 1o points. Stanford shot 59 percent from the field in the game.

After falling behind 35-28 at halftime, the Cougars played a strong second half in which it scored 35 points and took a three-point lead at 50-47. Unfortunately, Washington State (10-21) just couldn’t contain the multifaceted attack of the Cardinal offense.

DaVonte Lacy led all scorers with 25 points and D.J. Shelton added 15 points and 11 rebounds in the Cougars final game of the 2013-14 season. Lacy is a junior who should return for his senior season with the Cougars, but the team will lose Shelton, a player who really came on down the stretch.

Stanford will play Arizona State in the second round of the Pac-12 tournament, Thursday.
