(1090 The Fan) — With guard Anthony Brown leading the way, Stanford sent Washington State to its 11th conference loss, winning 69-56 Saturday night at the Wallis Beasley Coliseum.
Brown finished with a game-high 30 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field and 10-for-11 from the free-throw line. Chasson Randle added 14 points for Stanford and Josh Huestis grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Cardinal on the glass.
Que Johnson scored 14 points and DaVonte Lacy finished with 13 points to lead Washington State (9-16, 2-11) which again fell behind early and couldn’t recover.
The Cardinal jumped out to a 14-3 after the first five minutes of play behind a trio of Brown 3-pointers. The lead was extended to 28-14 with six minutes left and even at that point, it was more than enough for Stanford.
Stanford(16-8, 7-5) took a 39-24 lead into the break. The lead remained at double digits for the majority of the final stanza, however, the Cougars were able to close to within five points on two separate occasions only to see Stanford extend it once again.
Stanford shot 44 percent for the contest while the Cougars finished at a mere 31 percent. The Cougars travel to Oregon State to face off against the ninth place Beavers, Thursday.
